What is Turbo Core?
This technology rivals Intel's Turbo Boost technology in terms of enhanced processor performance. Here is a short description: Processor performance is maximized when 3 or more cores are at low utilization, allowing the processor to find itself in an eligible state to increase productivity. The remaining active core benefit from a “boost,” in performance by downclocking dormant cores frequency and voltage. This aspect can be regulated by a processors TDP or thermal design power, which represents the maximum amount of power the cooling system in a gaming computer is required to dissipate. Depending on the circumstances, AMD's most recent gaming processors feature these technologies. This will become more apparent once this technology reaches more mainstream users.
How does this benefit gaming PCs?
By literally overclocking the active core, this allows the highest performance state of the processor to be reached, determined by the manufactuer. With the convergence of Turbo Core, games and other simliar activites will operate flawlessly and without interruption.
