What is QuickPath Interconnect?
In short, Intel's QPI is a point-to-point processor interconnect, which is currently used with certain Intel Core i7-9xx processors and x58 chipsets. Intels new processors have an embedded memory controller for each core situated on the processor “die,” giving the processor two external buses to the chipset, completely replacing the FSB. This allows data to and from the processor simultaniously, which greatly effects processor function.
How does this benefit gaming PCs?
By directly linking each induvidual processor core with a high-speed interconnect, this enables faster and larger data transfers upon request by the processor.
Look for this specification if you are purchasing an Intel based motherboard. This will effect overall stability of intensive programs.
