What is HyperTransport?
HyperTransport is one of many point-to-point interfaces that was
designed to increase the communication speed between the CPU and various integrated circuits, which eliminates the peformance disadvantages associated with the FSB. Motherboards that use the HyperTransport interface will benefit from increased CPU bandwidth, allowing the memory modules, various I/O devices, expansion slots, for example, to supply much more data every clock cycle.
How does this benefit gaming PCs?
By directly linking each induvidual processor core with a high-speed interconnect, specifically connected to various integrated circuits throughout a particular motherboards design, enabling larger and faster data transfers upon request by the processor.
